Board Member Elections

The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy consists of six Board Members, (five actively licensed pharmacists and one public member). Pharmacist members of the Board are elected from five geographic areas of the state and the public member is appointed and commissioned by the Governor. Board members serve five-year terms and may serve no more than two consecutive five-year terms. Eligible voters include all pharmacists actively licensed and residing in North Carolina on October 31 of the year the election begins. N.C.G.S. § 90-85.7.

UPCOMING ELECTION: SOUTHEASTERN DISTRICT

The next Board election will begin on November 1, 2025 and will be for the southeastern district position, presently held by Robert (Joey) McLaughlin from Trenton, NC. The winner of this election will begin their term on May 1, 2026.

**OCTOBER 1, 2025 IS THE DEADLINE FOR CANDIDATE PETITION SUBMISSION**

To be eligible to run, the candidate must be a licensed pharmacist residing in one of the counties that comprise the southeastern district at the time of the election. Those counties are Beaufort, Bladen, Brunswick, Carteret, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Duplin, Greene, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pender, Pitt, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland, and Wayne.

Candidates who wish to stand for election are required to submit a petition signed by ten pharmacists residing in the southeastern district to the Board office by October 1, 2025.  Please contact Kristin Moore for petition/signature logistics.

All actively licensed pharmacists living in North Carolina at the time of the election are eligible to vote, regardless of the district in which they reside. It is only the candidates and the pharmacists signing the candidates' petitions who are district-limited.
